These are pictures of our present cat, Zea (named after corn), and her "big brother," Jessie, who died in early September. We miss Jessie...and Z keeps us laughing!

Garden pictures from last spring and late summer, as a reminder that greener times will come...

Although all of us in the Midwest are moaning about winter now, it can be beautiful. Here are some pictures from this winter and last winter.

These are pictures of our cold frame this January, after a period of _really_ cold weather (it was -18 degrees F one night!).

We have a swath of native tallgrass prairie plants going the length of our back yard that we call our "prairie." The swath is about 15 feet wide in the back of our yard, and gradually narrows to about 3 feet as it gets closer to our house. We started this "prairie" in two stages, with seed mixes. So in some ways it really does resemble a tiny wild prairie.

Here are some pictures, starting in mid July, of our garden.

This spring I started the first seeds in seed blocks on Feb. 28.
